We're getting ready to celebrate the biggest wedding month of the year here in the Pacific Northwest and are very busy making beautiful custom-designed gifts for lots of couples about to start their new lives together! Wedding gifts can be a stressful decision for some—this is where wedding registries and the checkbook provide a fool-proof way to give without worry. This route also makes sense when couples are starting a home, or just starting over and their needs are bigger. If you want to give a gift that's more personal but want to be sure that you're on target, we've created a guide to help you select something thoughtful and perfect. It's okay to veer off the registry. Registry items are merely suggestions, not obligations and meant to be a guideline as to what the couple wants and needs. If you decide to purchase something else, it’s a good idea to check out the registry to gauge the couple’s style. Do your research. Who are these people as a couple? What do they really love to do and how do they like to spend their time? The best way to make a gift personal is to choose something you know they’ll really love. You can even mention why you chose it in your note, so they’ll know you took the time to pick just the right gift. Get something they didn’t register for but that goes with their tableware. Glance at their registry to see what they have selected to guide your personal gift choice. Have they ordered a cocktail shaker and other bar accessories? Are they wine & champagne drinkers? Give a lovely set of unique martini glasses or special occasion champagne flutes to compliment their choices. Even throw in a cocktail making class or a special bottle to further personalize the gift. If they love to entertain, there are so many beautiful serving dishes that can reflect their sense of style. Go in with others on a larger gift. If there is something really special you have your eye on that you know the couple would love, but it's a bit out of your budget, reach out to a few friends or family members who might like to contribute. Keep the group small though, because it can get complicated with final decisions, and you also want the couple to recall everyone who gave it to them. Good luck with your wedding shopping! Enjoy some of our favorite gift ideas from the Tamara Childs Collection slideshow below: We just wrapped up another year at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market and it was such fun! It's so nice to get out of the studio and to work with people directly. We always make new friends while seeing old ones and spending time with our wonderful customers.
The biggest joy comes from actually placing all of our pieces together in settings that the eye can imagine. Nothing can show the Tamara Childs' experience like a single photograph or piece. The sum of all the parts gives such visual possibilities for home decor and dining tables - and let's not forget wedding season and wanting to give unique one-of-a-kind gifts that can start a new bride's collection. Enjoy some of the Atlanta showroom displays below. A special shout-out to Home World for their coverage on the showroom. |
