We just returned from the Atlanta Gift Show and as always, it was wonderful to see so many of our friends and customers. Getting out of the studio infuses us with energy and enthusiasm. We get to talk design and show our clients all the different ways our pieces create a unique and exquisite home decor style. Our eyes and ears are wide open at these gift shows because you can really get the pulse of what's coming and going in home decor trends. It helps inform our design inspiration to know what the consumers are excited about. There was a very clear moving away from rustic farmhouse and industrial styles that have dominated shows in years past. Here's what we found our customers are loving now in home accent designs: 1. Metallics are hot Still! The passion for metallics hasn't waned at all. Customers want shiny beautiful bling around the home and the most popular color continues to be gold. Whether it's a beautifully designed tablescape, place settings for a special dinner party, or accent pieces in your living room, we have you covered here. 2. Artisan handcrafted pieces made in America. Everyone loves a story behind a piece. They want to know who the designer is and how the piece was made because it feels more personal to them and their home becomes distinctively curated. Supporting artists local to the US is a plus. Here's a look into artisan handcrafting that happens everyday with the Childs Studio gilding process. 3. Color for Spring Customers like to change their color palettes around the holidays and the seasons, and Spring always brings requests for GREEN. It's fresh and bright and goes beautifully with the fresh flowers abundant in those months. We feature two popular green-colored metallics, Moss and Variegated Green, shown here on our 6-inch Bubble Glass Bowl. We'd love to hear from you on your favorite Spring home accent trend! Let us know in the comments or shoot us an email. As always, we make every piece custom-to-order so if you don't see a piece in a color or pattern you want, just ask us!
We are thrilled to be featured in the July/August 2018 issue of Traditional Home magazine—one of our favorites! The article focuses on the West Coast creative movement and the rise in demand for artisan goods. Our Bubble Glass Bowls are featured. Enjoy! Wedding Season is approaching and we are so busy at the studio hand-gilding beautiful pieces for our-brides-to-be. We're often asked "what are your top sellers?" for this important gift-giving occasion. We curated a guide which includes our most popular items for registries, bridal party favors and wedding gifts. Registries The Champagne Flute in Gold is hands-down our biggest seller. It's elegant, classic and gold is hotter than ever in styling. Shown here on our 16" Zig Zag tray. Tamara hand-gilds every stem and we demonstrate the careful process below - hover over the photo to read each step. Bridal Party Favors These sweet mini vases are so popular for both party and bridal shower favors and come with their own gift bag (the vases can be filled with candy). Shown here in patterns Wabi Sabi, Slash and Zig Zag, all in Gold. Wedding Gifts Some guests don't want to choose their gift from the wedding registry but want to give something unique and special. The Glass Candlesticks are so popular because they are artful, elegant and fall right in that wedding gift price-point. Shown here in Wabi Sabi pattern in Gold. Decorative Glass Bowls are another great wedding gift idea because they serve as a beautiful stand-alone home accent piece but can also be used in home entertaining - everything is hand washable! Shown here is our Bubble Glass Bowl in a Solid Starburst pattern/color and our Glass Pedestal Bowl in a Solid Sunset pattern/color. Our third top-selling wedding gift is a Decorative Art Glass Vase, shown here in Roadz pattern in color Starburst. There are so many sizes and design choices for this, leaning both classic and contemporary, depending on your couple's home style. We hope this guide was helpful when selecting your custom-designed, hand-gilded Tamara Childs' piece. Since every piece is designed to order, please allow plenty of time for our studio to create your special gift. Please feel free to contact us for consultation on items and their design for the happy couple!
