Tamara Childs Collection expands distribution, opens new permanent showroom in Atlanta #ATLMkt

6/30/2014

Childs Studio, Tamara Childs Collection, opens in Atlanta with hand-gilded tabletop, gifts, accessories and home decor.
Growing demand for Tamara Childs hand-gilded tabletop, gifts, accessories and home décor brings brand expansion, new partners, designs and products
Seattle, Washington (June 30, 2014)—Internationally-renowned artisan of hand-gilded glassware, Tamara Childs of Childs Studio, this summer opens another new permanent showroom at the popular America’s Mart Atlanta Market. Childs opened her first showroom in the western United States at the Las Vegas Market in January and returns to the Jully market there with new products and designs.

On July 8th Tamara Childs Collection opens a new permanent showroom at AmericasMart in Atlanta. Caskata and Rolf Glass join the Tamara Childs Collection there for the market that runs July 8 to 15, 2014. Tamara Childs will showcase her extensive array of hand-gilded glassware, giftware, tabletop, home décor and accessories at the new permanent venues. The showrooms will be open to buyers and customers year-round.
Just in time to launch her new showrooms (and wedding season!) Tamara Childs introduces a new line of metallic gilded designs called Wabi Sabi. The term ‘Wabi Sabi’ represents a Japanese world view or aesthetic celebrating the beauty and peace in ordinary things. According to Wikipedia, the characteristics of the Wabi Sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, irregularity, simplicity, austerity and genuine integrity which the new Tamara Childs design captures beautifully.

“The fact that we do each piece by hand right here in the USA, that every piece is hand-crafted, gilded, finished and packed—every piece literally goes though our hands five times, nobody does this kind of volume, with this kind of manual care,” says Childs, “It’s what makes us unique in the marketplace and reflects in the quality and the beauty of our products.”

Even as an ancient art, gilding thin metal leaf on surfaces as a means of adornment delighted its recipients—as gifts, showpieces or as everyday tableware.  In her unique style, Tamara Childs continues this timeless tradition of creating hand-gilded pieces of table art made for a lifetime of enjoyment and use.

According to many interior designers, the trending word in tableware and home décor this year is ‘metallics’: gold, silver, copper and a composite of all create a new elegance for the well-styled home. Topping the list of must-have metallic decor are hand-gilded dining accessories and giftware from the Tamara Childs Collection.

The Tamara Childs brand reputation for exquisite craftsmanship is widespread among the home décor and decorating industries. “The Tamara Childs brand literally sells itself. Showing and selling the Tamara Childs Collection is fantastic for us because she not only creates 100 different hand-gilded pieces but in ten different colors from silver, gold, copper, northern lights, red variegated and so many more,” says Jim Burnett, retail manager and buyer for
LCR Collection in Connecticut, a full service design and decoration firm with a retail shop selling specialty home furnishings. “Her work pleases just about every customer we have. She’s definitely a brand leader in our showroom.  We’ve consistently sold out of her ever-popular gilded tabletop ware and accessories.”
